KOCO 5 Sports Director Bryan Keating sat down with Oklahoma defensive lineman David Stone Jr. to talk about Stacks for Sacks — and why every quarterback takedown this season is a win for the Oklahoma City metro.
We couldn’t be prouder. On October 10, KOCO 5 News aired a feature on David Stone Jr. and Stacks for Sacks — the per-sack pledge campaign David leads with RECON-nect to support veterans and first responders across Oklahoma.
The timing says a lot about who David is. As KOCO reports, he’s one of the highest-projected picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, and he recently made headlines for a knee injury. That injury didn’t keep him out of the Sooners’ game against Georgia just days later — it turned into one of his most productive games of the season. KOCO caught up with him ahead of the Red River Rivalry, after an extra week to rest and heal.
That good cause is the heart of the campaign. Fans pledge $10 for every sack David records, and Oklahoma businesses join as Gold, Silver, and Bronze sponsors. 100% of Stacks for Sacks proceeds fund free, private mental wellness access and therapy resources for veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, and EMS through RECON-nect.
Thank you to Bryan Keating and the entire KOCO 5 team for shining a light on David’s commitment to the people who protect our communities. If the story moves you, there’s a place for you on the team — make a fan pledge, become a sponsor, or wear the mission.
